'Tis the Season for Events! Join Us and Party With Purpose...

Part of what we do at Hope House is find ways to engage donors in fun, participatory ways. Because of that, we have many different events to offer our supporters throughout the year. Sure, we do the standard nonprofit stuff like write grants, send letters out explaining what we do, why we do it and asking you to please donate and, increasingly, we take part in online charity challenges whenever we are awarded the opportunity to do so. But events are a big deal for us. They represent nearly 15% of our overall annual budget PLUS they give us the chance to celebrate and spend time with our supporters and community. Take a look at our upcoming events and see if you might like to join us at one. There's definitely something for everybody, so consider partying with a purpose!

Howlin' For Hope, Sunday, November 10th, 3-6 at Howl at the Moon

We are very excited about our upcoming 6th annual Howlin for Hope, sponsored by Carter Energy. This event will be held at the dueling piano bar Howl at the Moon which is located in the Power and Light district. This event is a great way to get involved and help while having a great time. If you have never been to Howl at the Moon you are in for a treat. The dueling piano players create a fun, music filled atmosphere and lots of opportunities for patrons to get on stage and join them for laughs and the opportunity to win prizes. You can request songs, you can encourage your friends to embarrass themselves and you have the opportunity to help Hope House raise desperately needed funds.

The funds raised at this event will be used for capital needs at one of our campuses. We have over $200,000 worth of projects that need to be done. We have work to do in shelter and around the grounds. The wear and tear our buildings take is truly amazing. But when you consider that both shelters house over 1,100 people every year it isn’t surprising that they need major upkeep. We will work with other sources to raise the remaining funds needed for all of our capital needs.

I hope you can join us at Howlin for Hope on Sunday, November 10th from 3-6 at Howl at the Moon. For details visit our website at hopehouse.net  or call Nancy at 813-257-9328 for sponsorship and ticket information.

EVENTS? YES, We’ve got ‘em!

A large part of sustaining any nonprofit is fundraising. We write grants, send out appeals and a variety of other things to raise money in order to continue to offer services. It’s a balancing act. In an effort to make it a bit more fun and celebrate with our supporters, we host a lot of events at Hope House. Some are completely our own doing; others are generously put together by other people for our benefit. In any case, we have SEVERAL coming up—something for everyone. And, although the word event conjures up images of fun, frivolity and a party-like atmosphere, it is serious business for us and represents nearly 15% of our overall annual budget. They are good fun! Join us and have fun while helping us all at the same time!

Margarita Ball!

I am so excited about our upcoming event. It's our second annual Margarita Ball! It will be held on Friday, April 26th from 8pm-midnight at Dan Meiners Studio which is located at 2500 W. Pennway in Kansas City, Missouri.

The event was a huge success last year and we look forward to even more people this year. We'll have two bands - The Zeros and X-Parte - providing lively music to dance the night away. There will be plenty of delicious food and lots of free margaritas.

The proceeds from this event will be used to support our daily operations and assist us in providing services to over 10,000 people every year. We could not provide the level of service and program opportunities to all of the individuals we work with if it wasn’t for the support of this wonderful community.

Please join us on the 26th and have a great evening of fun while knowing that you are helping thousands of people over come the tragedy of domestic violence.

For more information on the event or to purchase tickets visit our website, hopehouse.net or contact Libby at 816-257-9334. Looking forward to seeing you on the 26th
